DagStack 1.0 works on iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 17 or later. Personal tasks work without an account. Partner sharing uses your Apple Account and iCloud; there is no separate DagStack account.
How do Stack and Today work?
Capture tasks in Stack, then use a task’s menu to move it to Must, Should, or Want for Today. You can also capture directly in Today. Use the menu to edit a task, drag between Today’s cards to change its intention, or drop a focus task onto the bottom Stack tab to return it to Stack. Use Edit to reorder tasks.
What happens to unfinished tasks tomorrow?
Enable Return focus tasks to Stack in Today → options → Settings and choose a daily time. Unfinished Must, Should and Want tasks return to Stack; Done and Archive are unchanged. Personal has its own schedule, and the shared-space owner controls a separate Shared schedule. Schedules use their saved time zone. If the app is closed, the change appears when it opens. Tasks selected after the reset remain in Today. New or changed schedules start at the next occurrence. With reset off, yesterday’s unfinished selections remain available for review.
Can I see personal and shared tasks together?
Both tabs have Personal and Shared views. Turn on Include shared tasks in Personal to see both kinds together. Today and Stack remember that choice separately. You can also hide an individual shared task from Personal using its menu. This changes only your view, not your partner’s tasks.
Does my private Stack sync across my devices?
No. Private tasks, private archives, and personal display preferences stay on that installation. Only tasks placed in Shared sync through iCloud. Deleting the app removes its local data.

How do I add a partner?
Sign into iCloud on each device. On one device, open Partners → Add partner, choose the recipient in Apple’s sharing sheet, and send the invitation. The recipient opens the invitation to join. You can invite multiple partners to one shared space.
Join an existing space before creating a separate shared space or adding Shared tasks on the receiving device. DagStack does not merge existing spaces. Private tasks can stay in place when you join.
What can a partner see or change?
Partners see only shared tasks, including their titles, notes, assignments, daily selections, and completion state. Tasks created in Personal remain private until you choose Share with partners… and confirm.
Everyone in the space can edit, complete, archive, recover, or delete shared tasks. These are collaborative tasks: completing or deleting one changes it for everyone. Shared Today lets you view Everyone, You, or a partner; tasks assigned to Together appear for both people.
Why has a shared change not appeared yet?
Edits save on your device first. Tap the sync status above Today or Stack for an immediate refresh and the time of the last successful sync. You can also use Partners → Sync now. Sync runs while the app is active and when iOS delivers a background update; background delivery can be delayed or combined. The Partners screen shows connection errors.
Check that both devices use the expected Apple Accounts. Switching accounts pauses access to the old account’s shared data. If two people edit the same task offline, DagStack resolves the whole task when they reconnect; it does not keep a separate edit history.
Can I move tasks between Personal and Shared?
Long-press a task and drag it onto Personal or Shared, then confirm. Drag onto Must, Should, or Want to change its intention. The task menu offers the same choices without dragging.
Making a shared task personal creates a private copy and removes the active shared version for everyone. The old shared copy remains in Recently Deleted for seven days. Future private edits stay private.
How do I choose notifications?
Open Today → options → Settings, or Settings in Partners. Choose separate alerts for shared tasks being added, edited, marked done, or deleted. Changes save immediately when you toggle them; allow notifications in iOS when asked. These choices apply only to this device. Marking a task done uses the completion switch, independently of ordinary edits. The former daily review reminders are removed automatically when you open the updated app.
Shared alerts arrive after changes synchronize, so iOS background limits can delay them. First-time history, repeat syncs, your own changes and automatic cleanup do not create partner alerts. Notification previews can show task titles; adjust previews in iOS Settings.
How do I stop sharing?
Open Partners → Manage partners to use Apple’s sharing controls. The owner can manage access or stop sharing; a participant can leave. An owner keeps local shared tasks after stopping sharing. A participant who explicitly leaves removes the shared cache from that installation while keeping private tasks.
Removing someone’s access stops future sync, but cannot retrieve copies they already downloaded or saved elsewhere. Their device can retain previously downloaded content until they leave or remove the app.
Done has a limit. Archive is a choice.
Open Today → Done → Done limits to keep completed tasks for a number of days or retain only the newest number of tasks. The default is 30 days. Private and shared tasks have separate limits; the shared-space owner sets the shared limit for everyone.
To keep a completed task without automatic expiry, choose Archive from its menu. Use Select → Archive selected to save several at once. You can find them in the Archive screen from Done. Return to Done starts a fresh age window and keeps the original completion date; count limits still apply.
Expired and manually deleted tasks go to Recently Deleted for seven days. During that time, recover a completed task to Archive or restore a task to Stack. After the recovery period, cleanup permanently removes private tasks and clears shared task contents. Shared cleanup waits for a successful sync on the owner’s device, so it may happen later while that device is offline or unable to refresh.
